“The finest parade Band - New Orleans style - in Europe”. The Mardi Gras Joymakers are
lead by clarinettist Brian White. Over the years Brian has played at the world’s most
prestigious festivals, such as New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, USA, Nice (France)
Grande Parade du Jazz. This year he will take his band to play a four-day New Year Jazz
Festival in Palm Springs, California. Currently he has six CDs under his own name for the
New Orleans based record company ‘Jazzology’.
This link with the New Orleans was forged some years ago with his first visit to the birthplace
of jazz. He heard the parade bands who play anything from the joyous Mardi Gras
Carnivals to the solemn music of the traditional New Orleans funeral. He did not think then,
that he would find enough like-minded musicians in the UK to recreate the sounds of the
Crescent City. It took many years, but now at last Brian can look around at the assembled
Mardi Gras Joymakers and feel that this country has a parade that is the very best.
Increasing numbers of British audiences are being swept along by their swinging beat and
joyful sounds led by their traditional ‘Grand Marshall’. Do not miss this vibrant surging music
